Venue:
Assemble at Ho Man Tin MTR Station (Exit B2)
Project Background:
The PolyU Campus Expansion at Ho Man Tin Slope involves the construction of a new academic building to provide over 10,000m² in Net Operational Floor Area (NOFA) to meet the healthcare training needs for allied health services in Hong Kong. It will also include a hostel building providing accommodation for more than 1,200 places.
Project Description:
This is a challenging project which involves construction of large diameter bored piles, socketed H-piles, and pile cap foundation structures located on a sloped terrain. To overcome the site constraints due to significant level differences, temporary steel platforms and fill platforms were implemented to facilitate heavy plant maneuvering while enhancing safety throughout the course of bored pile construction. As the piling works are progressively being completed, the upcoming challenge comprises major Excavation and Lateral Support (ELS) executed with pipe pile wall and soil nail "tie-back" system, to facilitate the construction of pile caps at levels varying throughout the site.
