Programme Highlight
Built in 1982, the original Pillar Point Sewage Treatment Works (PPSTW) provided preliminary treatment and had a capacity of 215,000 m3 per day. To improve effluent quality and cater for an increased sewage flow in line with population growth in Tuen Mun district, the Drainage Services Department (DSD) upgraded the original treatment works to a chemically-enhanced primary treatment (CEPT) with UV disinfection. Its capacity is also expanded to 241,000 m3 per day. The upgrading process began in July 2010 under a DBO contract, and was completed in May 2014.
This technical visit will start with a brief introduction to the PPSTW which will be followed by site walk to major facilities on site.
