Programme Highlight
Underground construction works in urban area is always a challenge for development/redevelopment. In particular the congested underground utilities, traffic conditions, public concerns and proximity to structural foundations. Complicated underground geological conditions also present significance difficulties when dealing with the tunneling works. This talk will cover the successful experience of the adoption of using a Rectangular Tunnel Boring Machine (RTBM) for the trenchless construction at Kai Tak Developments.

Speakers
George CHEUNG is Technical Director at Build King Civil Engineering Limited. He has over 27 years of experience in the construction industry for a wide variety of civil engineering, building, and foundation projects in Hong Kong. He is experienced in project management, structural works, site formation, reclamation, geotechnical works, piling works and deep excavation works. He has first introduced the trenchless tunnelling method by adopting the Rectangular Tunnel Boring Machine (RTBM) in 2018 for a subway construction at Kai Tak Development Project.
