Programme Highlight

This technical seminar aims to provide valuable insights into the latest trends and best practices in sustainable pavement materials such as warm mix / rubber asphalt pavement, low carbon paving blocks and self-flowable backfill with a special focus on their potential applications in Hong Kong. The presentation will showcase innovative technologies and materials that are being utilized to reduce carbon emissions, improve durability and enhance safety on our roads.

Ir Dr. Gordon Leung has 25 years of experience in the civil engineering field.  He is a professional civil engineer and an applied researcher.  Currently he is the Associate Director of Research & Development for the construction sector of NAMI, overseeing a wide range of R&D projects and applications such as sustainable asphalt and concrete materials, new generation of sprayed concrete, self-flowable backfill materials, concrete 3D printing, etc.  Dr. Leung obtained his bachelor and master degrees in civil engineering from Nottingham University and Birmingham University of UK respectively in 1997 and 1998. After serving with Ove Arup Hong Kong for 10 years as a professional engineer, he further pursued his PhD from HK Polytechnic University in highway pavement engineering and moved into the applied research field.  In the past years, he has been supporting the government in updating the general specifications related to roadworks and providing advices to the industry about the ways to achieve sustainable highway solutions.  Dr. Leung has also been teaching the module of highway pavement engineering for a number of years under the MSc Civil Engineering program offered by the University of Hong Kong and he has been actively serving various professional engineering institutions.  As a highlight, he was the Chairman of the Chartered Institution of Highways & Transportation (HK Region) between Year 2019 and 2021.

Email registration will not be accepted. Successful applicants will be informed by email and provided a link to the Zoom Meeting at the designated time slot. Participants need to sign in using the membership no. and name entered at the time of registration. A CPD certificate will be issued 3 weeks after the seminar based on this membership no. and name.
