One of the landmark cable stay footbridge structures between the former Hong Kong Kai Tak Airport and the Regal Oriental Hotel has been demolished recently. This seminar presents the crucial considerations for planning, design and site supervision of construction and demolition of the footbridge structures over one of the busiest carriageways in Hong Kong, the Prince Edward Road and to allow for the normal operation of the existing Hotel. It also includes the descriptions of the stressing and de-stressing of the cables of the footbridge.
