Engineering in Practice
Date, time & venue Managing projects from its conception to completion or commissioning involves many challenges and issues. Experience, intuitive feel and personal judgment play a significant role in successfully planning, executing and managing projects. However, when projects become more complex, humans may require the support of tools and techniques to analyze and/or evaluate alternatives to arrive at decisions. Tools and techniques are also very useful to develop if-then scenarios to properly assess various alternatives before the stakeholders of the project make the final decision, and especially when the stakeholders have little or no experience on similar projects. The seminar covers tools, processes and methods for planning and controlling projects. Topics include tools and techniques for project selection and evaluation, project alignment, scope definition, risk analysis, evaluation of alternatives, scheduling, decision analysis, cost and schedule control and the application of case studies.
