Engineering in Practice
Date, time & venue
2018-01-13;10:00 – 16:00;Kwai Chung (Assembly location to be confirmed)
Programme Highlight:
There are many low-income families, the elderly and the physically-disabled living in unsatisfactory living conditions in Hong Kong. Owing to old age and physical restrictions, they are not able to clean or repair their homes. However, potential household traps threaten their safety.
With the support of the Habitat for Humanity Hong Kong, we will visit the target families to carry out repair works (e.g. wall painting and fixing peeling ceiling) and house cleaning works and to bring them warmth.
Volunteers from the Civil Division of HKIE will be divided into small groups to visit the target families. Experience in home repairs and renovation is not required to participate in this activity. A briefing will be provided by Habitat for Humanity Hong Kong in the morning.
This voluntary work intends to nurture the caring culture of the under-privileged and to foster the spirit of harmony in our community.
Fee:
Free of charge. One hour lunch break will be provided.
