Programme highlights
Taking the initiative to promote partnering approach in construction contracts, the Government started to try out the New Engineering Contract (NEC) form of contract, and selected a number of projects in various Works Departments as pilot projects. The first NEC pilot project is a nullah improvement project – “Improvement of Fuk Man Road Nullah in Sai Kung” under the management of Drainage Services Department (DSD). The contract commenced in August 2009 and completion is expected in mid-2012.
The contract adopts Option C – Target contract with activity schedule, under NEC Engineering and Construction Contract. As the project approaches its completion, the project team will share the experience of administrating this NEC project, in particular, the establishment of partnering and collaborative working attitude, the management of risks and compensation events, and financial management of this target cost contract.
