Programme highlight

Contract 904 is one of the major civil construction contracts of the South Island Line (East) covering the Ap Lei Chau section of the new line. The Contract covers Lei Tung Station (LET), South Horizons Station (SOH), Lei Tung Tunnel, Lee Wing Street Ventilation Building (LWB) and the related EPIW works. The form of construction includes cut and cover method for SOH station box and tunnel at Ap Lei Chau Drive, drill & blast method for tunnel and cavern such as Lei Tung tunnel and LET Station. The key challenges for this contract are to tackle the temporary traffic management, existing utilities, site conditions and unforeseen geological constraints in close proximity to the built up residential area during the construction stages.

This seminar will highlight the different methodologies and difficulties during the course of design and construction of SOH and cut and cover tunnel at Ap Lei Chau Drive as well as the Drill and Blast tunnel and LET cavern section underneath Yuk Kwai Shan.
