Date, time & venue
Venue CRE office and Site of Tuen Mun Road – Town Centre Section (Please see attached map)
Highlight Tuen Mun Road has been opened to traffic since 1978 and was one of Hong Kong's first high speed roads. The Design and Build of Traffic Improvements to Tuen Mun Road – Town Centre Section Project aims to improve traffic condition by widen about 1.5km of carriageway. This is also the very first large scale public project in Hong Kong which involves the installation of ‘eco-noise barrier’. Associated works include the construction of a single lane vehicular bridge and reconstruction of existing footbridges and junction improvement works.
To enhance communication with the public and effectively address public concerns about the Tuen Mun Road project, a Community Liaison Centre (CLC) for the Reconstruction and Improvement of Tuen Mun Road has been set up and opened to public on 19 July 2010. At the CLC, the information related to TMR project is available with illustration by display boards, models and video slides.
In this visit, participants will have an opportunity to get a close up view on site for trial panel of the vertical green for the noise barriers/enclosures; mini and pre-bored H-pile construction for noise barriers/enclosures and footbridge, temporary footbridge, assembly of steel works for permanent footbridge and to have a thorough understanding of other Tuen Mun Road projects by visiting the Community Liaison Centre.
