Programme Highlights Twenty existing footbridges were transformed by contemporary architecture facelifts in the vibrant city of Shenzhen. The bridges, located across the city near the two main arteries namely the Shenzhen Boulevard and Bin He Road, was closely studied for their “natural identity” in each of their respective surrounding and environment. The unique “personality created for such bridges together conjure a new cityscape that speaks the multifaceted aspects of the urban context. The visitors will attend a briefing at the local design institute office and then visit six footbridges with further details on the construction challenges to be introduced by the Hong Kong Project Architect and the mainland Design Engineer on site.

The number of participants is limited to 35. Priority will be given to members of Civil Division and only successful applicants will be notified by email on or before 13 December 2012.
