Engineering in Practice
Date, time & venue
Joint Organisers Organised by HKIE CVD and supported by Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, HKPolyU and ASCE Hong Kong Section
Speakers: Professor Luh-Maan Chang (張陸滿), Professor & Director, High-Tech Facility Research Center, Department of Civil Engineering, National Taiwan University, Taiwan; and Professor Emeritus, Civil and Construction Engineering & Management, Purdue University, U.S.A.
Programme Highlights To civil engineers, the Nano-R&D & Manufacturing (Nano-R&D&M) facilities are complex processes involving many considerations not typically encountered in designing traditional civil engineering facilities. This seminar will begin with the introduction of nanotechnology (NT) and its impact on semiconductor facility design and construction following by the discussion of the issues resulted from the use of high performance tools and ultra-pure utilities. Meanwhile, along an interdisciplinary effort for the design/build of the semiconductor facilities, the civil engineers’ role will be pointed out.
