Programme Highlights The West Island Line (WIL) is an extension of the existing Island Line from Sheung Wan to Kennedy Town. It is about 3 kilometres long with three railway stations at Sai Ying Pun, the University of Hong Kong and Kennedy Town. Contract 704 is the largest project for the West Island Line which comprises of two underground cavern stations at Sai Ying Pun and Hong Kong University with associated 2 km running tunnels and 3km construction & pedestrian adits constructed by drill and blast, 100m soft tunneling by ground freezing method, nine entrance shafts with depth up to 80m by mechanical means.
In this visit, participants can have opportunity to gain insights into the underground construction work of Sai Ying Pun Station Cavern.
Safety Equipment Participants must bring along their own safety helmets, safety reflective vest, safety shoes and a valid Green Card (or HKIE Corporate Membership Card) if available.
Fee: Free of charge
Registration & Enquiries The number of participants is limited to 20 on a first-come first-served basis with priorities given to members of HKIE Civil Division.

If you are not a HKIE Corporate Member, you are required to PROVIDE YOUR GREEN CARD NUMBER AND ITS EXPIRY DATE IN THE “REMARK” field, otherwise the application will not be considered.
