Programme Highlight
The Drainage Services Department (DSD) of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region is most delighted to host the DSD International Conference 2014 (DSDIC 2014) as one of the key events in celebration of DSD’s 25th Anniversary. The Conference will be held between 12 and 13 November 2014 at the Regal Hongkong Hotel, located in Causeway Bay of Hong Kong which is easily accessible by all different types of transport. It will be followed by parallel half-day technical visits to our flood prevention and wastewater treatment facilities on 14 November 2014.
The main theme of the Conference is “Sustainable Stormwater and Wastewater Management”. Since the establishment of DSD in 1989, sustainability has always been our focus throughout the delivery of our wastewater and stormwater drainage services. We are committed to be environmentally friendly in all our activities and services and endeavor to serve the Hong Kong community with the best of our effort in safeguarding public health, protecting and preserving natural ecosystems, thus contributing to the sustainable development of Hong Kong. We have also been continually improving the quality of our services and alleviating the impacts of our sewerage and stormwater drainage systems on the environment.
Sustainability is drawing much attention worldwide in the recent years in the face of dwindling natural resources and environmental degradation brought about by local and regional pollution as well as global Climate Change. We consider it is essential for people working in the stormwater and wastewater fields to interact regularly and collaborate closely with a view to supporting sustainable development on a global scale. We take the opportunity to organize this Conference to draw together distinguished academics, professionals and decision-makers from all over the world to Hong Kong to share their latest findings in scientific and technological research and experiences in management practices in stormwater and wastewater engineering.
