Programme Highlight
Under this project, the existing Admiralty station is being extended to provide interchange facilities between the existing Tsuen Wan Line, the new South Island and the Shatin to Central Link. The challenge in this project is to maintain the operation of the existing station while the construction works are in progress.
The project is situated in the central business district on the Hong Kong Island which gives rise to a complex working environment with considerable restraints in terms of access, traffic and noise. The site team is currently proceeding on enabling works that will allow excavation of the station box and the access shaft to the tunnels and caverns to commence. Work is being carried out on multiple fronts in a very congested site area that is surrounded by skyscrapers, major highways and the existing MTR underground lines. These issues challenge the site team on a daily basis and very detailed planning and organization are required because a delay in one section will certainly have a knock-on effect on another part of the site.
The structural works, E&M and building services installation for the station are in full swing, whereas the E&M and building services installation are also being carried out for the tunneling part. The Participants will be able to get a first-hand view and an understanding of the ongoing construction works.
