Programme Highlight
The existing Pillar Point Sewage Treatment Works (PPSTW) came in operation in 1982 as a preliminary treatment works. It only removes solids and grits from the sewage inflow prior to discharging the treated effluent into the north-western waters via a twin submarine outfall.
The treatment level of PPSTW requires upgrading to reduce the pollution load to the north-western waters. The treatment capacity of the PPSTW also requires expansion to cope with the forecast increase in sewage flow from the tuen Mun area.
This technical visit will start with a brief introduction to PPSTW, followed by a site walk to major facilities on site.
