[FULL] Technical Visit to Shatin Sewage Treatment Works (Open Day)

Gather at 13:20hrs for group shuttle bus at Entrance of Yew Chung International School – Primary School, 2 Somerset Road, Kowloon Tong (please refer to the map provided).

Dismiss at 16:00hrs at Shatin STW, free shuttle bus to Shatin town centre provided by DSD.

Programme highlight:

Shatin Sewage Treatment Works (STW) is the largest secondary sewage treatment works in Hong Kong. It occupies 28 hectares of land and serves a population of 600,000 in Shatin and Ma On Shan Districts, which produces 250,000 m³ of sewage per day.

Shatin STW was commissioned in 1982. The treatment capacity was 100,000 m³ per day and was later increased to 200,000 m³ per day in 1986. The treatment capacity of the STW will be increased to 340,000 m³ per day after the completion of remaining works. The tour will be hosted by the STW staff. Participants will visit various treatment process plant during the Open Day tour.

Registration Details:

- Number of participants is limited to 20 on a first-come first-served basis with priority given to members of HKIE Civil Division

- Applicants who have already successfully registered to or participated in more than FIVE (5) visits organised by Civil Division in the session 2016-17 will be given lower priority.

- Only successful applicants will be notified on or before 7 October 2016.
