Programme Highlights
Reclamation has been one of the major means to provide land for various housing, industrial, commercial and infrastructural development in Hong Kong. The original Chek Lap Kok airport was also constructed mostly on reclaimed land. Coupled with the demand for increasing environmental protection and tight programme for development, the Three Runway System development of Hong Kong International Airport has adopted more advanced and innovative design and construction techniques for land formation. The proposed expansion for the Third Runway will involve the reclamation of around 650 hectares and it will face many challenges and additional constraints.
In this seminar, the speaker will share his experience in developing methodology, outline the design principles and construction aspects of the scheme, discuss the benefits and future development of methodology for reclamation works. The seminar also provides a platform for sharing new knowledge and techniques that will enable engineers to meet the demand and tackle the challenges in the near future and beyond.
Speaker
Daman Lee is the Project Manager of the reclamation construction contracts for Airport Authority.
